Who We Are

The Academic and Athletic Alliance is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 1993 and headquartered in Washington, DC. For over three decades, we have been on the frontlines of youth development, providing underserved young people with access to quality sports programming, academic resources, and the kind of positive mentorship that changes the trajectory of a child's life.

We believe that participation in sports is critical to the mental health, physical development, and academic success of our youth. And we believe that every child, regardless of their family's income or the neighborhood they grow up in, deserves a fair shot at success. That is not just our mission. That is our promise.

More Than Sports — A Complete Development Program

The recreational and educational needs of our community are best served by a comprehensive approach, one that reaches the beginner and the expert alike, and holds the attention of our youth in an inclusive, fun, and caring environment. Our team of experienced professionals is on call to respond to a wide range of topics including academic guidance, college preparation, diet and nutrition, goal-setting, mental health, athletic recruiting, and sport-specific skill development.

Why Our Work Matters

Too many young people in our community are growing up without safe, affordable spaces to play, learn, and grow. For families in low-income and underserved communities, organized sports and quality academic support are often out of reach, not because their children aren't talented, but because opportunity hasn't found them yet.

The Academic and Athletic Alliance exists to close that gap. We create structured, professionally managed environments where youth can develop physically, academically, and emotionally, reducing risk, building confidence, and opening doors that might otherwise remain closed. Because when a young person wins on the field and in the classroom, the whole community wins.

Every program space managed by the Academic and Athletic Alliance is led by properly trained coaches, certified trainers, experienced volunteers, and caring adults. We hold ourselves to the highest standards — because our youth deserve nothing less. By establishing quality procedures and safety protocols, we reduce the risk of injuries, create positive experiences, and keep our young athletes active, engaged, and inspired.
